The Enemy of FOMO: Embracing Your Best Life in Christ
In today’s world, we’re constantly bombarded with the fear of missing out (FOMO). We see it
on social media, in advertisements, and even in our everyday lives—the subtle (and sometimes
not so subtle) voice telling us we’re missing out on something better. But did you know that
Satan himself is the god of FOMO?
The enemy’s goal is to make you believe that when you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and
surrender your life to Him, you’re missing out on something in the world. He whispers that by
giving up your “rights” and yielding to God, you’re somehow forfeiting your best life. This is a
dangerous lie, and one of the most effective tactics Satan uses to pull people away from living
fully for Christ.
But the truth is, when you give your life to Jesus, you’re not missing out—you’re gaining
everything. 1 Corinthians 6:20 reminds us that we’ve been bought with a price. Jesus’ sacrifice
on the cross paid for our sins and bought our freedom, so we no longer belong to ourselves.
This isn’t a loss; it’s the greatest exchange ever made! When we give our sorrows to God, He
gives us His peace. When we are weak, He becomes our strength. Instead of a life of weeping
and regret, He gives us joy in abundance. What could possibly be better than that?
When we surrender our will to God, we step into the blessed life. But this life can only be found
as we stay rooted in Him and live in obedience to His Word. Psalm 1:1-6 talks about the
blessed man who delights in the law of the Lord, likening him to a tree planted by streams of
water, fruitful and flourishing. And in John 15:5, Jesus reminds us that He is the Vine, and we
are the branches; apart from Him, we can do nothing. This means the abundant life we long for
isn’t found in chasing worldly things but in abiding in Him.
God’s desire for you is to live the real best life—a life of purpose, joy, and abundance that far
exceeds what the world offers. Jesus came to give us life, and not just any life, but life to the
full (John 10:10). His plans for you are filled with hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). But this
life can only be accessed through the Holy Spirit, who guides, comforts, and empowers us to
live as God intended.
So today, reject the lie that you’re missing out by giving your life to Christ. Satan wants to rob
you through wrong believing, but right believing leads to right living. Choose today to make
Jesus the Lord of your life. Walk daily with the Holy Spirit as your guide and counselor. As you
do, you’ll discover the true joy, peace, and purpose that come from living your real best life—
the one God intended for you all along.
